Day 6/365 of building 12 startups in 12 months.
Lost all the code for the first startup.
Losing your work sucks but losing momentum is worse.
and even if it's almost 11pm, im here tweeting because I promised myself I wouldn't lose discipline too.
Today was really painful.
I lost the full codebase for the landing page and the SaaS I was building. unfortunately i didn't do a backup or a git commit and it's gone, so, I have to start from zero again.
it was supposed to be day 0 of the MVP, guess there's a reason why you start from day 1 usually.
It sucks, but i hope to rebuild it fast:
- I already know what I want to build
- And next time, I won't make the same mistake
also: losing something you've built reminds you how fragile early-stage projects are.
You have to create systems that reduce the chance of stupid errors. and that's part of becoming a better builder, not just a faster one.
what I've learned today:
➝ Always save your code, git is not an optional, even for day 0.
➝ Repetition creates mastery so the rebuild will be sharper.
i'll rebuild the site and try to ship a working beta as planned.
see you tomorrow.
